From Signing to Payroll
When Your Cash Becomes Available.
Signing opens your account. Cash moves when you have an eligible invoice: one billed to a business client for hours your workers have already put in.
- 0124–48 hours
Onboard your agency
Sign the agreement, send your formation documents and a voided check, and list the clients you plan to factor. Sigma reviews your clients' credit and checks your agency without a hard credit pull. You can sign before you've billed any hours.
- 02Each pay period
Bill hours already worked
Invoice your client for a completed pay period, then submit the invoice to Sigma with your client’s approval of the hours. A signed timesheet isn’t required.
- 03Where required
Client sign-off, where required
Some clients approve hours in their own system before they accept an invoice. If yours does, the invoice is ready for funding once they have.
- 04Same day
Sigma verifies and approves
Sigma checks the invoice amount, the hours behind it and your client's credit. Your first invoice is verified as part of onboarding.
- 05Same day
The advance reaches your account
Sigma sends the advance, typically 80–90% of the invoice, to your business account by ACH or wire. The rest is held as a reserve.
- 06Client's terms
Client pays, reserve released
Your client pays Sigma on its usual terms. Once payments build a reserve balance, Sigma releases it to you on request, minus the fee.

Client story
$400K in Net-60 invoices funded for an Illinois staffing company
“Before Sigma, payroll kept me up at night. We're a staffing company, so no matter when clients paid us, our people still needed their check every Friday. There were weeks I genuinely didn't know if we'd have enough to cover it. Since working with Sigma, that stress is gone. The money's there when I need it, every time.”

Will my clients know I'm using factoring?
Yes. Sigma sends each client you factor a Notice of Assignment (NOA). It tells their accounts payable team to send payment on your invoices to Sigma. Your client keeps receiving your invoices and pays on its usual terms; only the payment address changes. This is standard industry practice and does not signal financial distress. Sigma’s team handles the NOA and payment follow-up professionally, as an extension of your business.
What can hold up approval of an invoice?
Most delays come from missing information: hours your client hasn’t approved yet, a new client whose credit Sigma hasn’t reviewed yet, no accounts payable contact to send the NOA to, or an invoice your client questions. Send complete client contacts and your client’s approval of the hours behind each invoice, and approval moves faster.
How fast can I get my first invoice funded?
Onboarding, including verification of your first invoice, typically takes 24–48 hours from signup. After that, invoices you submit for hours already worked are funded the same day once Sigma verifies them.
Do you require a long-term contract?
Our standard agreement runs 12 months. That lets us invest in your account and move fast for you when it matters. If you’d rather see how we work together first, we can start with a trial period. If you expect your situation to change, for example by qualifying for a bank line of credit, raise it when we prepare your proposal. Any flexibility on term or exit is written into your agreement.
Can a new staffing agency work with Sigma?
Yes. You can sign with Sigma before you’ve billed any hours. Funding starts once you have an invoice for work your temps have already done. As you grow, we generally look for agencies to reach at least $50,000 a month in invoices, because steady volume shows the agency is viable and stable. That’s a growth expectation, not a requirement to sign, an invoice minimum or a fee commitment.
Can I factor invoices that go through a client’s MSP or VMS?
Yes. Many staffing clients approve hours and invoices in a managed service provider (MSP) or vendor management system (VMS). Sigma verifies invoices submitted in those portals and funds them, which often makes funding smoother and faster. Tell us which portals your clients use during onboarding.
Do you factor direct-hire placement fees?
Generally, no. Sigma focuses on temporary and contract staffing: the weekly or biweekly invoices for hours your workers have already put in on active assignments, whether they’re W-2 or 1099.
What's the advance rate on W-2 vs. 1099 invoices?
Both are eligible. The advance rate on your invoices is based on your client’s creditworthiness and invoice type, not your agency’s financials. Use the estimator above to see a typical advance for your invoice amount. Your exact rate is shown in full in your proposal before you sign anything.
Do you work with healthcare or construction staffing agencies?
Healthcare staffing invoices billed to a business, such as a hospital, clinic or care facility, can qualify. Sigma doesn’t factor bills paid by third-party medical payers, such as health insurers, Medicare or Medicaid. More on healthcare staffing factoring. Construction staffing needs additional underwriting review, so talk to us about your clients and billing before you count on funding.
What happens if a client disputes hours or an invoice?
We work with you to resolve disputes. A dispute over the work itself, rather than the client’s ability to pay, is handled case by case. Credit insurance, if you add it, covers a client who doesn’t pay, per the policy terms. It doesn’t cover disputed work. We’ll walk you through how disputes are handled for your specific invoice types during onboarding.
